Nobody has done this on Android yet. iPhones have, four times. A run that fails is still a result, so send it in.
What you need
- Two Android phones, Android 12 or newer
- The APK on both
- A few NIM on the sending phone
- Bluetooth on and the app open on both
Real mainnet money. No test mode. Send what you would not mind losing.
The run
- Install on both phonesAndroid warns about sideloading once. That is about sideloading, not this file.
- Open the app on both, keep both screens awakeBackground relaying is its own test. Leave it out of the first run.
- Phone A: airplane mode on, then Bluetooth back onAirplane mode switches Bluetooth off. This is the step people miss.
- Phone B stays onlineIt is the gateway. Wi-Fi or cellular.
- Wait for both to say meshedThe status line at the bottom of the home screen.
- Send from phone AAny amount, any address. Phone A has no internet.
- Watch it settle on phone AThen find it on a block explorer, an ordinary transaction.
When it does not work
Both say searching forever wake both, keep the app on screen
One phone went to sleep or got backgrounded. Give it a few seconds after waking.
Phone A never leaves pending check phone B has internet
The mesh can carry a payment perfectly and still have nowhere to hand it off.
Nothing happens in airplane mode check Bluetooth is back on
Airplane mode disables it, and the app cannot mesh without it.
Bluetooth permission denied grant Nearby devices in app settings
Android will not ask twice. Without it the app runs but can neither see nor be seen.
It stops when the screen locks a maker's battery saver killed it
The app runs a foreground service so the radio survives a locked screen. Some manufacturers kill it anyway.
Worth reporting
- A payment that never settled, and how long you waited
- A status line that said one thing while the app did another
- Anything that made you unsure your money was safe
- Both phone models, especially if they never found each other
- The moment you first got confused
How to tell us
The Help button on the wallet screen sends the errors behind the screen you were on. Or email [email protected] with both phone models.
